Rules & Regulations
General Yard Rules

Staff Availability - Staff are available for assistance daily between 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM (Monday to Sunday).

Access Outside Standard Hours - If you require access to the yard outside of standard hours, please notify the yard owner in advance.

Facilities and Cleanliness -

Please ensure all lights are turned off, taps are not left running, and all litter is placed in the bins provided.

If you are the last person to leave the yard, it is your responsibility to turn off all lights.

Hacking Out Alone - Riders hacking out alone must inform a member of staff of their planned route and estimated return time. Carrying a mobile phone is strongly advised.

Farrier Requirements - Horse owners are responsible for ensuring their farrier holds valid insurance, is appropriately qualified, and uses up-to-date safety equipment.

Clean-Up Responsibility - Owners must clean up any droppings, hair, or debris left after grooming, shoeing, or other activities.
A £5.00 cleaning fee may be charged if this is not adhered to.

Damage to Property - Any damage caused to yard property or facilities may result in a charge to cover repair or replacement costs.

Parking - All vehicles must be parked in the designated parking areas only.

Dogs - Dogs are strictly not permitted on the yard at any time.

Horse Loading/Unloading - Horses must be loaded and unloaded only in the designated area.

Grass Verges - Grass verges are not to be used for grazing or vehicle turning. Please keep off these areas at all times.

Concerns or Issues - If you have a concern about a horse or situation, please speak directly with the yard owner. Avoid involving others unnecessarily.

Worming Programme - Participation in the yard’s worming programme is mandatory for all horses.​​
Health & Safety
General Disclaimer - Equine activities carry inherent risks. All activities conducted on the premises are at your own risk. While every effort is made to maintain a safe environment, all users must adhere to the following health and safety regulations:
Vaccinations & Testing -

All horses must provide a negative strangles test before entering the yard.

All horses must be up to date with flu and tetanus vaccinations.
Insurance -
-
A copy of third-party liability insurance must be provided for all horse owners.

Visitors offering services (e.g., instructors, therapists) must also provide proof of insurance.
Supervision of Children - Children under 14 years of age must be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times while on the yard.
Rider Attire -

Riding without a BSI-standard riding hat and appropriate footwear is strictly prohibited.
-
It is advised that riders wear their riding hats and gloves when turning horses out or bringing them in.
Yard Speed Limit - A strict 5mph speed limit applies when driving on or off the yard.
Prohibited Activities -

No fires are to be lit on the premises.

Smoking is strictly prohibited except within the designated Smoking Shelter.
Signage - All yard signage and instructions must be followed at all times.
First Aid & Accident Reporting

First Aiders are appointed on site.
-
All accidents, injuries, or damage must be reported to the yard owner immediately.

If the owner is unavailable, please record details in the accident book provided.​
Ménage (Arena) Rules
-
Booking System
-
All arena use must be booked via the TimeTree booking app.
-
Use of the arenas is not exclusive unless otherwise stated.

Lunging
-
A maximum of 2 horses are permitted on lunge at any one time, with prior agreement.
-
Lunging sessions must not exceed 30 minutes, and horses must be moved around the arena to prevent rutting of the surface.

Ridden Use
-
A maximum of 2 horses may be ridden in the arena at any one time.
-
If demand is high (particularly between November–March), riding sessions are restricted to 45 minutes per horse per rider.

Jumps and Poles
-
Jumps and poles may be used for training sessions but must be cleared away and stored properly after use.

No jumps may be erected while others are schooling, unless prior agreement has been obtained.

Private Sessions
-
Private bookings are permitted between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM. Outside these hours, users must be willing to share the arena.

Late Arrivals
-
A 15-minute grace period is allowed. If the booked user does not arrive within this window, the slot is considered forfeited and may be used by someone else (who must first write their name in the diary).

Droppings
All horse droppings must be removed from the arena immediately after use. -
Turnout
No turnout is permitted in the ménage under any circumstances. -
Riding Etiquette

Always pass left to left, unless another rider is performing lateral work—give way accordingly.
-
Be considerate of other riders at all times.
-
If a rider falls, all others must halt immediately.

Clinic Bookings
Any clinics or external sessions must be approved by the yard manager prior to booking. -
Arena Gate
The arena gate must remain closed during riding and secured after your session.
Please ensure you familiarise yourself with these rules. Continued use of the facilities constitutes acceptance of all terms stated above. Failure to comply may result in disciplinary action or termination of your yard agreement.
